The B2B landscape in glazing

Since launching, Astraseal have seen an abundance of would-be members are queuing up to join Astraseal's Approved Commercial Installer Network (ACIN).

While by no means a young industry, glazing is one that continues to evolve and adapt to suit the interests of all those who encompass it. The fabricators, suppliers, fitters, and of course the end homeowners themselves. Because of this we thought we’d take this time to reflect on the B2B glazing landscape in general, highlighting where we think it’s at and what direction is likely to go in.

Brexit effects remain a challenge, but one we can overcome

Britain’s choice to withdraw from the European Union meant that significant changes were in store for the home improvement industry. The good news is, despite initial fears, sterling has recovered the majority of its losses against the dollar since the vote, however there is still certain ground left to make up against the Euro. There’s now less than a year to go until Brexit day, so what has happened since?

Prime Minister Theresa May has signed the transition deal, meaning that the majority of the window and door industry has been able to prepare somewhat and hold itself up. This is despite not having a great deal of information and a path of uncertainty. Certain manufacturers felt the need to put their prices up initially because of this, but as the currency recovers it only makes sense for the glazing industry to do the same. With Brexit there’s still a lot we don’t know but are most certainly prepared to overcome.

The industry continues to adapt alongside the digital revolution

The advent of online reviews and social media continues to prove a tough nut to crack. While we’re confident that all the fitters and tradesmen we at Astraseal work with are some of the best in the business, the old “cowboy builder” precedent gives a small percentage enough ammo to harness this contempt and take it online. The best course of action is to prove these naysayers wrong!

Installers not maintaining a strong online presence at all are already handicapped, potentially missing an entire demographic of homeowners who don’t respond to traditional sales or advertising tactics. Thankfully, schemes like Astraseal’s install marketing support are always on-hand to help boost leads and conversions through positive online reviews, effective marketing, in addition to industry-leading home solutions.

Strong relationships between fabricator and installer remain core

At the heart of everything remains the relationships between fabricators and installers, which needs to continue being intimate for homeowners to benefit. However much the glazing industry fluctuates amidst emerging trends, installers will succeed by offering a wide range of the latest products that is of use to the demographic they’re catering towards. A reliable supplier is needed for this to happen.
